Sweetgreen IT Run Book & Construction Guide

System Overview

- The sweetgreen digital menu board system is comprised of four landscape Commercial Grade Displays in a 1×4 or 2x2 configuration.

- The displays can be recessed wall-mounted or ceiling mounted.

- The displays are showing content that is rendered locally on a windows based media player. The media player(s) and AV hardware is installed within the Sweetgreen IT rack.

- Content layout and scheduling are managed in the Zero-In Cloud-Based Content Management System.

Network & Power Requirements

- The digital menu board system requires 6 cat6a runs between the Sweetgreen networking rack and the menu board location.

- The 1x2 marketing displays require 4 cat6a runs between the Sweetgreen networking rack and the marketing display location.

- For recessed installs, placement can be found below.

- For ceiling mounted menu boards, the low voltage cabling will travel through one of the support columns (Supplied by Zero-In). Power and Data must use different columns.

- Power and Data will need to be terminated after the menu board structure is partially installed.

- The sweetgreen/Zero-In standard for connecting Zero-In hardware is to use ports 38, 39, 40, 41, 43 ,45 ,47.

- The Zero-In equipment will be within the Sweetgreen IT rack starting at RU 10 and working our way up. We typically need between 8 and 14 RUs depending on how much hardware the specific location requires.

Temporary Network Changeover

When the sweetgreen network is not live at the time of install Zero-In will connect their hardware with an LTE-based modem (cradlepoint). Once the sweetgreen network is setup, the Zero-In equipment will need to be recabled to connect to the permanent network. This process is documented at the link below.

NCR Checklist for Zero-In Systems

Before arriving onsite, Zero-In would like confirmation from NCR that the site is ready for Zero-In to install their Digital Menu Board displays and supporting hardware.

The sweetgreen digital menu board system consists of four or six landscape Commercial Grade Displays in a 1x2, 1×4, or 2x2 configuration. The displays can be recessed wall-mounted or ceiling mounted. In a few select locations we also install a single portrait display called a Leaderboard.

Confirm with site plans which configuration the current site will be getting.

The Zero-In System’s topology is designed to have all the media playback and control hardware located in the Sweetgreen rack, or in rare occasions in a Zero-In provided wall mounted rack. Content and control signals are transmitted to the displays over cat6a cables. The following cable counts are required between the display locations and the rack location:
- 1x4 - 6 cat6a runs
- 2x2 - 6 cat6a runs
- 1x2 - 4 cat6a runs
- Leaderboard - 2 cat6a runs

If Zero-in is providing a wall mounted rack, the rack requires the following wall space per project:
- 1x4 or 2x2 DMB Only - 20”t x 22”w x 22"d
- 1x4 DMB or 2x2 plus a 1x2 or/and Leaderboard - 28”t x 22”w x 22”d

Considering NCR is deployed onsite before Zero-In, and Zero-In’s install depends in part on the work of NCR to be completed, Zero-In asks that NCR confirms the following points are completed and requests photos be sent to Installation@zero-in.com with a subject line of “NCR/Sweetgreen - LOCATION NAME: Site Status”.

Display Location Checklist:

If Wall Mounted:
- The correct amount of Data runs are terminated to wall plates at the display location and tested.
- Power outlets are terminated and live with permanent power.

If Ceiling Mounted:
- The correct amount of Data runs are present. If the pipes for the mount are already installed, the cables can be run down one of the pipes and terminated. If the pipes are not installed, please leave the correct amount of keystone jacks in a bag taped to the coil of cable. Zero-In will run the cables through the ceiling mount structure and terminate as part of their work.
- MC cable coil either ran through the second pipe (if installed, separate from the data runs), or coiled near the mounting location.

Rack Checklist:

- All data runs out to the displays are labeled and punched down in a ZI dedicated patch panel. (If possible, mounted at RU20)

- Sweetgreen network switch is installed.

- Site internet connectivity is live.

- RUs 10-20 left open for ZI hardware
