4 Tech Trends to Look Out for in 2023

The past few years have brought us quite a bit further into the digital age, and we’re only gaining momentum. 2023 looks like it will turn out to be one of the biggest years in recent memory in terms of technological advancements.

With so much going on in the tech world, it was difficult to narrow the list down. But after some careful consideration and research, here’s our list of the top four tech trends to watch for in 2023.

Significant Advancements in the Metaverse

Although Mark Zuckerberg’s ambitious virtual reality project has been in the works for some time now, 2023 is expected to be a key year in its development.

AR and VR have been taking big strides lately, as well as avatar technology and the capability to interact with digital environments. By 2024, the Metaverse is expected to be a $780 billion dollar industry, and much of that development will be taking place in 2023.

By 2026, experts estimate that 25% of the world’s population will spend at least an hour per day in the Metaverse, whether that be for work or leisure.

Needless to say, the Metaverse is going to be the new big thing in the coming years.

2. Further Progress in Web3 Technology

If you don’t know exactly what Web3 refers to, think of it as the next level after Web1 and Web2, where Web1 was when users could only view content, Web2 is where users can create and publish content (Live Journal to Facebook to YouTube, etc), and Web3 is where users can actually have control over content.

Web3 uses blockchain technology. This can actually give users ownership of their content instead of making them rely on platforms owned by others.

NFTs are a great example. They’re an entire topic on their own, but for the sake of demonstrating our point about Web3, they allow owners to have and retain actual ownership of their content in its entirety. This NFTs totally different from content published on various websites.

In short, Web3 technology will continue to advance, gain momentum, and increase in value in 2023.

3. Even More AI

As the years go on, AI is becoming more prevalent in our everyday lives. Not only will we see more AI in the workplace, but out in public, and even in our own homes.

No-code AI uses drag and drop interfaces that allow companies to create their own functionalities with ease. This lets businesses do things like automate mundane digital tasks, organize and analyze data, and even add smart features to their offerings.

AI has begun to supplement virtually all jobs in any industry, and that will only continue. But by far one of the most exciting things that could be coming soon is autonomous delivery.

Although this is likely still a few years out before it becomes an everyday thing, it would reduce the cost of delivery for companies, and in turn, the cost of delivery for consumers. Plus, it would be pretty cool to see a driver-less vehicle pull up to your house.

4. Advancements in Green Technology

2023 will be another year strongly focused on green energy solutions. With Tesla becoming one of the largest companies in the world, electric vehicles are now a huge market.

Additionally, we can expect progress in hydrogen energy solutions, which themselves produce zero emissions. And decentralized power grids, which rely on green sources more and more such as solar power. This can make a major impact considering that the vast majority of power delivered to homes and businesses doesn’t come from green sources.

2023 ought to turn out as a significant year for green technology, the Metaverse, Web3, AI, and the list goes on. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the year!
